Dave Aftandilian I feel this music evoking liminal spaces: darkness/light, sleep/waking, self/other. There is warmth here; a feeling of being wrapped in a womblike place of loving possibility. Yet there is also the profound chill of vulnerable isolation; of being trapped in thought-prisons of one’s own manufacture. Like smoke this hushed music drifts and coalesces, writhes and twists, forming into half-remembered shapes from a dream, then fading away just when you think you have grasped its contours.

Bourdon is the first in a series of collected drones pieces recorded live and unmastered. I wanted to capture my music in its raw form and share with you the sound of the moment as I experienced.

This album was created purely with modular synthesis and field recordings. Lately Ive endeavored to push towards a more organic sound by moving towards analog modules and focusing more on sound design. It is a labor of love to create this music and share it with you. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did creating it.
